We Are All Sowers

What profession are you in? Teaching, Security, Sales, Marketing, Management, Advertising, etc?  

What do you do? Teach people, keep people safe, sale products or services, strategize to meet business goals, oversee a team of associates?

Last question…what do all of us have in common, regardless of our profession? It is the fact that we all sow.

As defined on Dictionary.com,  to sow is to to scatter (seed) over land, earth, etc., for growth; plant. We may not call it sowing, but our lives can easily be aligned with sowing. What are you sowing in your life? How are you impacting the people around you?  Whether positive or negative, we all have impact.

Are you the “downer” in the group, always looking at the obstacle in a situation? Blocking the wind from under others wings so they can’t fly? Starting the rumors at work. Saying unkind things about your team members? Not encouraging your children. Focused on everything they do wrong and nothing they do right. Earning a A+ at advising your spouse on what you wish they would do or what they didn’t do. Are you consistently dishonest; not truthful with others or yourself?  If this is you, you are sowing. You are spreading/scattering discontent, discouragement and mistrust. Or….

Do you seek out opportunities to assist others? Do you help with out being asked? Do you focus on what is left in your hand versus what slipped out?  Do you attempt to bring people together? Do you encourage others to mend their differences? Are you careful to tell your children each day that you love them and let them know that you are their biggest fan? Are you the refreshing moment in your spouse’s day? Focused on how you can help them instead of what they did not do for you. If this is you, you are sowing. You are spreading/scattering kindness, gentleness, and encouragement.

The point is that we all sow. We just have to make a decision on what type of sower we will be.
