Daily Bread

Tonight I had the privilege to join, via facebook, a bible study that Sydney attends at Ohio State (TBOC Bible Study). Darnell Dees was the worship leader and in his worship he emphasized the “daily” part of daily bread.

This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Matthew 6:9-13

Tonight, maybe because my prayer life is not where I want or need it to be, “daily” spoke to me. We need God each day.  We need God to give us the fruits of the spirit each and everyday. Each day we need our the Lord to give us  love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control. Today, you may have been aligned with God in all aspects of your day and your light was so bright that you positively impacted someone else. But guess what, tomorrow you can’t go forth into this world and have the same impact relying on the fumes left over from yesterday. If we want a full life in God we need to seek him daily and request that he strengthens us each day.  In order to have continued growth in God we need him to feed us each day. We can receive our daily portions through personal bible studies, group bible studies, prayer time and worship. He will feed us daily if we truly desire it and if we ask for it.

God, I need you:

  • siku
  • du quotidien
  • taglich
  • diariamente
  • quotidiano
  • nsuku zonke
  • daily

Amen.
